Delicious middle-class food, staff very friendly 👍
We, 26 years old, have been going from Duisburg to Düsseldorf to the Schlüssel Brewery for 9 years. The beer is and remains the best beer in our region. It just always tastes fantastic. Whether for breakfast or dinner. The food is always unique. We have never had bad experiences and have been for 9 years. Now during the closing time, we support the brewery by buying kegs in the beverage market. We will continue to be regular guests and look forward to seeing you again soon!
Great waiters, great food totally enthusiastic. You have to be there when you come to Düsseldorf. Very nicely located in the old town.
As always, great when you're served a good alt. We would have liked to drink 3-5 more beers, but the spear hour did not allow this. Thank you Covid ...
Tasty old and nice service. Hygiene is taken care of! Top!
Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. We didn't even have to register. The knuckle must have been kept warm for several hours because it was dry and the crust too hard. But the lukewarm food was on the table 2 minutes after ordering, record time!
The beer is good, however, as elsewhere, but the food is not very good. The portions are very large and taste so-so. We took a knuckle and schnitzel. Puree with shank as if powder
Very good service and delicious food. Typical atmosphere of a Düsseldorf house brewery. Always worth a visit.
A wonderful project evening in the old town of Düsseldorf in the key brewery #key #brauhaus #altstadt # altstadtdüsseldorf #alt #altbier
Great place. Super quaint and cozy. The map is clear. It is delicious home cooking and super great beer. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Staff is really quick to bring the drinks and food.
Decent place, no more, nice and decent food at normal prices. The place is very cool and large with what the fourth star earns, but for eating I would say it is a 3 star
Service was quick and the beer tasted great. The staff is very nice. Fair prices and good food. Great place for the lunch.
I ate the mustard roast and it was awesome. The operations are real originals. Sitting in the beer garden is really nice
Delicious dröpke and quickly on the table. Belongs to the old town tour, goulash soup and meatballs as the basis and then cheers. As everywhere in the old town, fast service through the Köbes.
Very good food .... highly recommended👍
Friendly staff and delivery process of the beer has been someone's logistics MSc graduation project anyway.
I've never experienced anything like it: the waitress snapped at us in greeting and then made us wait forever, even though the inn wasn't overly crowded. After we finally got our drinks, the menu was never brought to us, although the waitress often passed our table. We then paid the unfriendly lady because we had lost our appetite. It's a shame, the restaurant was even listed in our travel guide.
Good service, and great food.
I was a good place for good food and well behaved..
Authentic. + Beer never broke my heart
Sometimes, unfortunately, really bad service. Free tables are reserved all at once, although you were told: sit down. All free. It was not served and the advice was not friendly. Too bad, I was used to different things here.
Awesome beer & beautiful ambience to sit in the garden
Highly recommend. Went at 11am for lunch with my two kids. Excellent food pork knuckle was amazing very generous portions, house brewed beer is really good staff were really nice and freindly. Location is also nice if you get an outside table especially and enjoy the street and buildings.
It was a nice day, switching between sunny and rain, but still warm. There was no menu visible, but laminated signs stuck to the tables, telling people to look online. I did so, and after standing in the opening for quite awhile without any attention from the tree employees, who were conversing behind the counter, I decided to sit at a table. After awhile, a waiter approached. I ordered, but he said my order was unavailable due to Corona. I accepted this and ordered the next best thing. The meatball, served with mustard and three raw onion rings and a slice of gurkin, was mediocre at best, like it had been frozen and microwaved. But all this was not my deciding factor to write this review. The big issue was the barman, who poured out the house beer for all the customers. He was given all empty glasses by the waiters, and he placed them in a washing up tray, and then went directly on to the new glasses, pouring out more beer. After I saw this a few times, I quickly asked for the bill. I had already had my beer before realizing that all the other guests' empty glasses had been touched by this one man before he touched all the new glasses. This is not an acceptable practice these days, or at any time. I hope for the safety of all the guests, that this procedure is changed.
I would give 4.5 but anyways, this is a great brewery/restaurant and I enjoyed the food. The beer was very nice but I would say that the food was quite average. I personally enjoyed it but my other members thought it was fairly average. I’d recommend this restaurant just to get a good beer or just try some German food
Excellent Altbier, food is good too although I couldn't taste any of their Rhenish specials, old school atmosphere, also takes card payment. Also many reviews talk about rude staff, but in 2 visits I had a very good experience with the staff despite the language barrier.
Excelent atmosphere, beer, food and service!!!
Amazing ham hock and Apple strudel!
I was there mid-afternoon off season, so it wasn't too crowded (but surpringly busy enough). The beer was very good. My Gulaschsuppe was also good, as was the gemischte Salat. Server was very friendly.
Rude waitresses, ignoring you, never again
My ultimate super favourite bar in Düsseldorf! It was one of those classic German local bars. Not much of English speaking, but everything was easy and simple as they only have 2 types of local beer, the full beer or half-half. My favourite was the half-half. I can drink minimum of 3 glasses of these without having any side effects because it is a half beer half malt drink. The food was also very delish! I had beef cooked in raisin sauce that also comes with apple puree. It was amazing! Never thought of any dishes wuth raisin sauce before and didn't have any slight of idea it would be that good at all. For a note, I have turkey with cranberry sauce. So, at first I didn't want to order this at all as I thought raisin sauce would be more or less similar with dish coiked with cranberry sauce. But it wasn't at all! It was a bit sweet, but just very delicious. Very recommended to try! Some people say the waitress were not friendly, I disagree with them! They are friendly and just being professional. Just like any other traditional German pub, they accept cash only!
Great place with amazing beer and food. My favorite German Restaurant in Düsseldorf. They brew their own beer which tastes great. I’ve eaten pretty much every item on the menu and you can’t go wrong with anything. I’ve been coming back here for many years and never had to complain. Staff is also great and funny. If you want some good German traditional food, this is the spot to go to in the city. It’s located by old town.
Definitely one to check out while in Duesseldorf if you like traditional German food and beer in authentic surroundings! This place is constantly jam packed so either reserve ahead if you are in a big group or get there early to avoid disappointment. The drinks service can sometimes be a little slow but that's purely because the waiters are genuinely rushed off their feet serving food and drink but every time we ordered food it arrived very quickly. The portions are hearty and reasonably priced. The waiters we found friendly and helpful, despite being so busy.
Great place, that brews it's own beer and serves traditional German food. Ignore people who say that staff is rude - that's the way it is in most of German pubs. They are mostly focusing on efficiency. There is one type of beer and its actually really good. They also can mix it with malt drink, which becomes highly delicious. Food is amazing as well. Really enjoyed it. Great representation of German taste.
A very tidy and comfortable place to eat. "Rustikal" salad tastes very good and the service is excellent. I totally recommend having lunch here!
Very good beer and you can add good home made dish.
Busy but great Altbier and fast service. Always call in when in Dusseldorf.
The waiters are very arrogant. They just want to make more money giving you beers and drinks that you didn't order. If you discuss with them they are always "right" and say that you are lying. This situation was very disgusting. The service is very disappointing. They must learn how to treat with customers.
There are plenty kinds of beer and breweries in Düsseldorf. It’s always good to catch up with friends by local Alt beer instead of coffee or tea when you are here! Schlüssel is one of the well-known brewery in town. Outdoor tables with heaters on the wall made us still enjoy the beer “vom Fass” in late autumn very much.
A friend and I were in Dusseldorf for 2 days to explore old town and enjoy the Alt beer. We wanted to go to the breweries and while exploring we found Zum Schlüssel. Their menu drew us in and the beer and service kept us there. We each had a soup which was outstanding. My friend said it was the best soup he's ever had. t was a Goulash, but nothing like what I ever saw called that. Almost like a very rich beef soup. I had the potato soup which was very good. Our entrees were both good; a beef dish and a bratwurst meal. The cheese potatoes were incredible. Fresh cut potatoes in a scalloped potato like sauce. But even with such an incredible meal, the beer still stood out over everything. We were tempted to stay there for the evening but someone next to us told us another one was the best, so we wandered over there. After one of the recommended alts there, we were back searching for Zum Schlüssel.
Nice funny noisy!
Do not eat here!!! As being Dusseldorf local, I must say do not eat here. It's a tourist trap. The beer is really yummy but if you're hungry, go right away and grap some fries right beside this pub. Once you're in do not order any food - only the so coalled "Bierhappen", that are some rolls with cheese or meat, you may order - but anything else to eat you better do not order!
Nice place for a beer friendly
The most classic brewery in downtown Düsseldorf !!! Serves the local beer (Alt) made by themselves. The roast is very good (roast, not boiled) the beer is very good! I highly recommend it, whenever you pass Düsseldorf!
0 stars!!! Will NEVER recommend this beer!!! I bought few bottles of beer "Schlüssel" in REAL Getränke Markt, paid HUGE price for beer (around 1,7 EUR for 0,5l) and 50 cents for bottles (Pfand). Wenn were completely disappointed in the taste of the beer... It is VERY "specific", so, me, my family members and friends didn't like it at all... Moreover when I brought the bottles back to get my Pfand, I got only 15 cents back per bottle instead of 50 cents that I paid before!!! So they just stole 35 cents for every bottle!!! SHAME SHAME SHAME!!!
Good beer, nice food and lots of space.
Good alt beer and funny server
Very nice place to relax and drink some nice beers.
Altbier was fantastic. Spetzle was amazing. Fantastic place to spend an hour or 2.
Hausbrauerei 👍🏻
